Hello to everyone who’s on a journey to better heart health, especially if you’re dealing with high cholesterol or elevated blood pressure. Today, we’re delving into a crucial mindset aspect of the healing process – understanding that it takes time.
As a Naturopath, Medical Herbalist and Pharmacist, I’ve seen first hand the journey many of my clients undertake to improve their cardiovascular health so that they have lower blood pressure and normal cholesterol levels. And I know that no matter how much we want everything to be fixed in an instant, the human body just doesn’t work that way.
The Nature of Healing:
In our fast-paced world, we’re often looking for quick fixes or immediate results. Healing is not an overnight process, especially when it comes to improving cardiovascular health. Whether you’re recovering from the fatigue and headaches from your high blood pressure or working towards ageing gracefully and improving longevity, it’s important to acknowledge that your body and mind need time to adjust and heal.
Our body has an innate order of things and we cannot force or rush this. Yes, we can help it along as much as we can – and remove anything that’s blocking the healing – but we need to understand that things will happen at their own pace.
Some of the things we can do to aid this process are:
- Work out why you want to make changes. Having a big why can help you stay motivated when life gets tough.
- Stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day
- Spend time slowing down in nature to help reset your body
Setting Realistic Expectations:
One of the first things I discuss with my clients, particularly those struggling with high cholesterol and elevated blood pressure, is setting realistic expectations. Healing from high blood pressure or achieving better cardiovascular health and longevity is not like flipping a switch. It’s a gradual process that requires patience, commitment, and, most importantly, time.
My Approach to Healing:
In my clinic, we focus on using food as medicine along with an evidence-based approach, especially for clients dealing with high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol.
My packages are designed to support you through every step of your healing journey. For instance, my Metabolic Balance® Program includes your personalised food list and best times to eat your foods, shopping list, app for when you are out and about, regular check-ins and monitoring throughout the program. My Metabolic Balance® Program gives you the tools for longevity and being around for your children and grandchildren.
Success Stories:
I’ve seen remarkable progress in my clients who have embarked on this journey with us. Take, for instance, my client John who’s wife made him come as his cholesterol levels were increasing and the doctor wanted him to go on to a cholesterol lowering “statin” medication. After comprehensive blood testing and working out his health goals. From being fatigued during the day and could easily fall asleep during the day but not sleep at night, he embraced his personalised nutrition plan with my Metabolic Balance® Program and ended up lowering his cholesterol levels back into the normal range, dropping 12 kg of fat and being able to get back onto his bike as his knees weren’t hurting.
Your Role in the Healing Process:
Remember, as someone seeking to overcome your high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol, your active participation in the healing process is crucial. This includes showing up for your appointments, asking questions, making your personal treatment plan a part of your new life, and making lifestyle changes.
Healing is a journey, and like all journeys, it takes time. If you’re ready to begin or continue this journey with me, I invite you to book a consultation with me. Let’s work together to embrace the healing process at a pace that respects your body and mind.
